Regulations of the competition «Dance Marathon»

The competition is held to popularize and develop the directions of modern choreography among the

 

OBJECTIVES of the contest:

  • Creation of a creative atmosphere for professional communication of the festival participants, exchange of experience and repertoire;
  • Organization of joint performances of choreographic groups of different directions
  • Raising the professional level of the leaders of the groups (master classes and round table for the leaders);
  • Development and strengthening of intercultural relations, activation of cultural exchange.
 
TIME and PLACE of the Competition: Aprill 11, 2026, Geneva Culture Centre, Narva.

 

PARTICIPANTS of the competition:

  • Children's and youth creative groups and soloists from different regions of Estonia, representing choreography of different styles and directions, take part in the competition;
  • Choreographic groups (the maximum number of participants in a group is not limited).

 

NOMINATIONS:

  • Contemporary dance (jazz, modern, contemporary),
  • Folk dance, folk-stylised dance,
  • Street dance,
  • Pop dance,
  • Classical dance,
  • Children's dance,
  • Ballroom dancing,
  • Dance show.
The number of numbers for one group in each age category should not exceed three dances.

 

AGE CATEGORIES:

  • 5-6 years
  • 7-9 years
  • 10-13 years
  • 14-16 years
  • 17-23 years
  • Mixed

 

FORMS:

  • Soloists
  • Duets, trios
  • Small forms (from 4 to 7 people)
  • Ensembles (from 8 people and more) - maximum 3 dances in each age category

 

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:

  • The time of one number should not exceed 4 min.
    Solo, duet, trio not more than 3 min.
  • Participation of dancers from the previous or subsequent age category is allowed, not more than 20 per cent of the total number of dancers.
  • Changes to the list of dancers and dances will be accepted until March 29, 2026. From March 30, changes will no longer be possible.
  • Participation fees can be refunded until April 1, 2026. After April 1, the fee is non-refundable.

JURY
The jury of the competition is formed of professional specialists and figures in the field of culture and art
 
EVALUATION
Evaluation is carried out by closed voting according to a 10-point system. Jury members give points to each number. The awarding of titles is made in accordance with the approved gradation on the basis of the Jury's evaluation sheets.
The decision of the Jury is final and cannot be changed.

 

VALUATION CRITERIA:

  • technique of performance;
  • composition of the number;
  • compliance of the repertoire with the age peculiarities of the performers;
  • staging /plasticity, costume, props, performance culture;
  • selection and correspondence of musical and choreographic material;
  • artistry, disclosure of the artistic image.

 

AWARD:

  • Laureate of the 1st degree
  • Laureate of the 2nd degree
  • Laureate of the 3rd degree
  • Diploma winner of the 1st degree
  • Diploma winner of the 2nd degree
  • Diploma winner of the 3rd degree
The winners of the competition are awarded with diplomas, cups and souvenirs.

 

PARTICIPATION FEE

  • Solo, duet and trio - 20 euros per participant for 1 dance.
  • Small forms (up to 7 people) - 12 euros per person for 1 dance.
  • Ensemble - 10 euros per person for 1 dance.

Please submit a quality recorded phonogram to zemtsuzina.narva@gmail.com by Aprill 04, 2026.
The file name should look like this - name of the group name of the number
For example, Surprise Jolly Walk.
Please also bring a flash drive with the necessary files.
